What's been going on!

A few weeks ago, Brad and I went to Fredericksburg to get away for a weekend. It was our late Valentine's day week...It was wonderful, just what we needed. There were deer everywhere, they walked within about 20 feet of us! The house sat on the middle of about 100 acres and had a hot tub, so we were in heaven! You can see pictures here if you'd like to: http://www.facebook.com/whit.davis#!/album.php?aid=2057866&id=1341861573&ref=mf

Not to long ago I found a lump on my grandmother's breast when I was getting her ready for bed. I mentioned it to my mom, so she scheduled a mammogram. The same day she took her they did a sonogram, the radiologist told my mom he was 99% sure it was cancer. At the same time they found two lumps on her lymph nodes under her arm. So Mom scheduled an appoint the following week with an oncologist, he told her without even doing the biopsy he was sure it was cancer because of the characteristics of the growth. His recommendation was do to a mastectomy, and possibly remove the two lymph nodes (he wasn't positive those were cancer, we won't know til next week). After much thought my mom decided to go ahead and do the mastectomy, my grandmother will be 98 this year so it was not an easy decision for my mom to make. On Wednesday this week she went in for the mastectomy, everything went well and she seems to be doing quite good. She has been giving the nurses a run for her money, as she can be quite demanding because she does not like the IV in her arm nor does she like not being able to get out of bed. Unfortunately she is a bit confused, she keeps telling my mom to take her bra off because it hurts. It breaks my heart she's going through this, hopefully God will bless her with a speedy recovery.

I haven't been able to see my grandmother because I got strep throat on Tuesday, I could hardly swallow. I hadn't had in so long I actually thought I was having an allergic reaction to something, but the Dr said nope it was strep throat. He called me in a Z-pack, thankfully it's helped tremendously! I am still not 100% but I am getting there.

Otherwise both of us are doing quite well, but I think Brad will be doing better in 5 months when football starts.

Its been a couple of weeks since I updated, guess it's about time huh!

We've been busy doing things around our house. We are both so happy to have a french doors instead of a sliding door on the back of the house. The doors were so old and worn out, so not only do the french doors look great they're much more functional! Thankfully my good friend Amy, told me her husband and step-dad could put them in for us. I had a little bit of doubt because everybody else told us it was impossible without screwing up the brick on our house. We were pleasantly surprised when they said the could install the new doors without hesitation. Then on top of that they even said they could install a new dish washer! Now that really made us happy! We were told they would have to pull up our flooring or tear apart our counter top to get our dish washer out. But leave it to Kyle and Mikey, they took out the old one and put in the new one without a hitch!

What's crazy is neither of us have ever had a dish washer! The dish washer that was in the house when we moved in worked, but the outer shell of it was cracked and would leak. So the entire time we've lived here we've washed all our dishes ourselves. So you can imagine our excitement! {especially Brad's since he washes dishes when I cook dinner!}

I started back to school a few weeks ago, so far it hasn't been to terrible. Hopefully I'll be substituting in Burleson ISD on my off days from school. I need to get all the experience I can, plus meeting teachers and principals will hopefully help me get a job when I graduate.

Last week we took our ol' man Chase to the vet, after leaving his office I sat in the car in tears based upon what the vet told us. Brad attempted to convince me not to worry until we knew for sure what was wrong. We had to wait it out to find out on the following Monday what was truly wrong with him, thankfully they think it's just a thyroid issue. They've put him on medicine, we're going to give it a month and see if things improve.

The past few weeks haven't been the best, we've had some struggles not with each other but in regards to other issues but hopefully 2010 holds better things coming up for us!

Yikes it's been a while!

So tonight I added a header to our blog, I'm not really happy with it since it's to small but it'll have to do for now til I can fix it.

Anyhow moving on, life has been wonderful and stress free so far this year. We've been doing things around the house and just simply being lazy! We figure we might as well take advantage of it while we can.

Looking back at 2009, it really was a great year for us! Despite Brad and I both being laid off, many doors were opened for us. We have faith that God is guiding us in the direction which he wants us to go.

Soon life as we know it right now will change, because I'll be starting school again a week from now. We won't see each other often and well I'll be VERY stressed. Looking on the bright side though, I'm almost done!

Finishing school not only means I'll have my degree but also means we'll be moving. Our goal is to be moved out of Fort Worth by the end of 2011! We want to start our "roots" in a smaller town a few hours from where we live now.

That's it for now, I'll leave y'all at that!

A White Christmas

For the first time in history, Fort Worth got snow on Christmas eve and we even had some left over on Christmas day! I'm not just speaking of a little bit, it was a lot we got a couple of inches! It was wonderful!

As result of the roads not being in good condition to drive on, we decided to not make the drive to Rowlett. So Brad and I stayed home and just relaxed together!

Christmas day we spent with my side of the family, then the next day we spent the evening with his side of the family. We both got some great gifts, my favorite gift this year has to be the flash for my camera! Brad got things for his new "man cave" in the garage, so he was happy!

Today was a lazy day for us, we enjoyed stay in together catching up on our favorite shows. It even snowed again today!

Hook'em Horns!

Anybody who knows us would know that we are huge UT fans! Yesterday we a big game for Texas they needed to win to make it to the National Championship. Neil, Kelly and her two kids came over to the house to watch the game.
While the majority of the game was boring and low scoring, the end up made up for it! I think Brad and I both just about had a heart attack as they almost lost! They'll be playing in the National Championship, hopefully they'll win that one too!

Yesterday Jennifer got us our first "Davis" family Christmas item! It's just too cute, she even put Chase & Madison's name on it with a little paw print!

We have have a Christmas tree we picked up last Thursday, we were planning on decorating it today but realized we have no Christmas lights! How does that happen!?! Last year we had probably 10-15 strands of lights but I guess somehow they got thrown away, since they're not with the Christmas decorations. Soo...decorating will have to wait until tomorrow.

Today we spent that day under a blanket keeping warm and cozy on the couch, watching football. No other place that we'd rather be! :) ... well for today anyway... I think we'd both rather have been in Longboat Key!

quick update

Life has been good, but VERY busy for us! Brad and I have been so busy for the past two months, we have not had one weekend to ourselves. It doesn't look like the weekend with just us will be happening anytime soon either.

Thanksgiving was wonderful this year, we had family over to our house in the early afternoon then went to his brother Neil's house in the evening. The day was packed, but it went smoothly and we had a great time!

This weekend Brad will watch football and I'll be going to Canton with Jenn and our moms, I'm looking forward to that! I always look forward to spending money! ;)

11/07/09

Last Saturday started a new chapter in our lives as we said "I do." Our wedding weekend came and went so fast, almost as if it was a dream. Despite the few bumps along the way, the weekend was absolutely perfect! Not only was special that we were getting married, but what made it even more special is that we were surrounded by our entire family. We could not have picked a more perfect place to get married at. Brad and I are already planning a trip back to Longboat Key next November!
I thought it would be fitting to start a journal documenting our lives together, the good and the bad. It'll be great to look back at to see where we've been in this journey together!
